Clapping, Crawling, Standing Up and Shouting

June 25th, 2009 by Simon

Ben is so noisy at the moment.  He is always shouting or making a whining noise!  Usually he does this when he is hungry or wants to try and stand up, but also first thing in the morning when he first wakes up.  He can’t stand up on his own yet but he can stand and bounce whilst standing if you lightly hold on to him so he doesn’t lose his balance.  He seems to love this and gets frustrated when he can’t get up on his own.

When he is not trying to stand up, he is trying to crawl around but it is more like a worm as he drags himself along the floor.  He is getting good at it now and it doesn’t take him long to get around the room, mainly to goes after wires, which is quite annoying!

He has also learnt to clap his hands when we ask him to, which is very cute, as he also gives a big smile when he does it.  Kelly has also taught him to cuddle in to her when she asks him to, which is also very cute!

The way he is going, he will soon be off to school! hahaha

Ben’s Weight

June 24th, 2009 by Simon

Ben had his latest checkup on 11th June, and all is well.  He was weighed and he is now 20 pounds 1 oz, so he is getting bigger.  Apparently the health checker said that it made him bang on average for his age, but when Kelly got home, she checked this and found the health checker had marked him down on the wrong week.  So Kelly changed it and he is apparently a little under average.  Even so, he is eating fine and loves his food!  He has tried almost anything and always has a taste when Kelly and I eat our meals, otherwise he shouts at us! ;-)  His favourites are yoghurt, pear and bread with cheese.

6 Month Health and Development Check

April 22nd, 2009 by Kelly

On 7th April, Ben had his health and developmental check with the health visitor.  Everything was absolutely fine, his weight was back up on the centile line and he is developing as he should be and reaching all the right milestones at the right time.  We now only have to see the health visitor every couple of months.

Ben eats 3 meals and 3 milk feeds a day, so he must be gaining weight well now!  He is certainly getting heavy!  He pretty much eats everything and so far we haven’t really found anything that he doesn’t like.  He really enjoys Petit Filous, but then who doesn’t?

Ben can now sit up for over 5 minutes all on his own, it won’t be long and he will be crawling around and pulling himself up to stand against the furniture!

Ben’s weight - Tuesday 17th March 2009

March 26th, 2009 by Kelly

Ben was weighed last Tuesday, his weight was 17lb 7 oz.  He was actually a bit underweight and below his centile line.  We were told it was nothing too much to worry about but we were to feed him up!  So we have now increased his solid meals in quantity, he has 2 a day now as well as his milk.  Another week or so and he can pretty much eat anything that we do.

Ben’s height is also a little under the centile line, but this is quite common as he is growing and developing in other ways and he will catch with his next growth spurt!

Ben can now roll right over from his back onto his front and back again, he even does it in his sleep now and tends to sleep on his tummy!
