Kicking!

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Well the baby has started kicking lots now! Kelly is always reporting that she can feel the kicking going on, and she can always feel the baby moving around now as well. Its been happening all day when she has been at work, and during the night as well. (Going to be a footballer!) I have felt the kicking a couple of times now, but it always seems to stop when I try and feel for it! Typical!

We have also nearly bought everything needed for the baby, ie cot, moses basket, a travel unit (pushchair, pram, etc), high chair etc. I have taken some pictures of these which I will post up on here soon. Not much else to buy now apart from all the nappies, clothes and other bits! Well, nothing big and expensive left to buy then! (Phew)

Back Pains (PGP – Pelvic Girdle Pain)

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

The first negative impact of the pregnancy was that Kelly had severe back pains over the past weekend.  She was fine on Friday but woke up on Saturday in agony.  She managed to get through the day (we went out to North Cornwall, see my blog) but it got worse the next day.  Apparently it is a common problem with pregnant women as it has something to do with the chemicals that the body is producing to soften up the pelvic bone, ready for birth.  It causes the bone not to click into position properly, so is slightly mis-aligned. Ouch!

Thank goodness that I can report that it has eased off again as the week has progressed, and she is now almost back to normal.  Fingers crossed it doesn’t come back again, although Kelly found on a website that it can last all the way through to giving birth!  Hope it doesn’t!

Kelly’s Belly

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

We thought it may be interesting to keep track of the size of Kelly’s bump throughout the pregnancy. We measured it last night and it is 40 inches big! Blimey! It will still get bigger though so we will keep track of it here.
