Please sponsor Ben on his 1st Toddle

June 24th, 2010 by Simon

Ben is going to do a Toddle in aid of Barnardo’s who help disadvantaged children under 5 years old.  The toddle will take place on 9th July in Woolwell and consists of toddling around quite a large field whilst hunting for gold coins (chocolate).

If you would like to sponsor him for this very worthy cause, please click the link below.

An Update About Ben

May 13th, 2010 by Simon

Just thought I would put an update on here about what Ben has been up to recently, and how much he is growing! ;-)

Ben now has 9 teeth in all, with 1 being one of the big ones at the back. We had a few bad nights where he wasn’t sleeping properly, and we think it was becuase of his big tooth coming through. Kelly felt around in his mouth and she said that she could feel all the big ones just under the surface of his gums, so hopefully they won’t be too long.  We just need them all out…preferably at once!

He has started jumping now as well, and does it all the time!  He can’t get too far off the ground at the moment but he is getting higher and higher.

His talking has got a lot better in that he doesn’t shut up now! He is always yabbering away to himself, even when he is in his cot and bedtime.  The number of times we have put him to bed only to come down and listen to him talking to himself or singing (!) to himself over the intercom! He is getting very good at copying what you say to him, with the longest words being aeroplane and pikachu (a Pokemon)…hahahaha!

He has also learnt the  tunes and actions to several lullabies like ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ and other songs such as ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes,’ ‘Row Row Row Your Boat’ and ‘Ring A Ring Of Roses.’  He also likes anyone doing ‘This little piggy…’ to his toes! He is also obsessed with the Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce and Alexandra Burke. He always stops when their songs come on the TV.

Finally, he loves computers and the Wii. Every day he has to sit on the chair and pretend he is working on the computer. He will sit there for ages tapping away at the keyboard and when he does something wrong, like opening a window by accident, he knows to press the Escape key to see if it will close the window.  Very clever indeed!  He also loves pretending to play on the Wii, especially if the balance board is out.  He will hold the controller and the Nunchuk correctly and stand on the board pretending to play Wii Fit. He is going to be a computer and games genius when he is older!

Weekend In Weymouth

April 20th, 2010 by Simon

We spent a long weekend in Weymouth staying with Kelly’s family, the weekend after Easter.  We all had a great time and the weather was perfect again, even allowed us to have a BBQ, which was great!  Ben had a great time and loved playing with Amber the Dog.  He didn’t actually sleep too badly either, although it could have been better of course!

Here are some pics of the weekend,

Snowy January

January 21st, 2010 by Simon

Ben had his first proper taste of snowy conditions in the first week of January. Previous snow falls that we have had have not been as severe as this, as temperatures didn’t go above freezing for over a week which meant the snow stayed for about a week as well.  It was great and Ben seemed to enjoy it loads!  He learnt how to say ‘snow’ and was always looking out of the window at the white wonderland.  We had about 2-3 inches so ws fairly deep for him, but he managed to walk in it with no problems and was helping to make snowballs and a snowman.

Here are some photos -

Quick Update 20/01/2010

January 20th, 2010 by Kelly

Well Ben has just cut his 6th tooth.  I was beginning to think that he was only going to get 5 as it has been a couple of months since he cut the last 1.  Don’t think it is bothering him too much at the moment but it may explain the restless nights.   Hoping to see the rest fairly soon.

Yesterday my friend Becky and her little girl Imogen came over to play and brought some paints.  Ben did his first painting and he seemed to really enjoy it.  He only really wanted to use the blue paint, though he did have a little bit of yellow as well, but definitely didn’t want red!   I think i am going to buy him some paints of his own now so we can do it more often!

Last but not least, Ben said ‘Witney’.  I was looking at some pictures of her and Ben was sat next to me, out of the blue he just pointed at the picture and said her name!  He loves his little cousin, and must have recognised her from the previous weekend when we went to visit.
